Michael is originally from Australia and has lived in Thailand since 2005. Spent the first year creating the "Lanna Charm" website and launched it in January 2007. Called Chiang Rai home for the first four years then moved to Chiang Mai in January 2010 to be closer to the markets and suppliers.

What makes us different?

Lanna Charm was born mainly through my experience of traveling throughout Asia. During my travels I was struck by the wealth of handmade products available and in particular, by their beauty. Also, I was impressed by the high quality and attention to detail as well.

Coming from a place where mass-produced goods are increasingly part of everyday life, I was inspired by the skills of the people who handcrafted these beautiful products. I decided to continue traveling throughout Asia, finding products and materials that captured my imagination, not only with a view towards selling the very best of what I found, but also for inspiration to design and make new products, often blending a little Asian-style into something typically Western, and vice-versa.

What makes us special?

The products you see on this website are the results of our work to bring something a little bit different to the internet. You won’t find any mass-produced goods here and most of what I sell is exclusively made by hand and, as I’m fond of saying, absolutely everything we sell has charm. I like to call it Lanna Charm.

In case you’re wondering, that charm extends all the way through the business from top to bottom; through our products, through our design and craftsmanship, and in particular, through our customer service.

Exporting our products.

We export our products to overseas buyers all around the world. Not only do we supply wholesale buyers with our own range of handcrafted fashion accessories and home decor, but we source other items such as mango wood products, bamboo home wares and furniture, hand carved soap flowers and wood carvings. We offer very competitive wholesale prices to our customers and will supply any amount of products, depending on the buyer's needs.

Fair Trade

We have a very good relationship with the people who work for us handcrafting our line of bags and scarves, as well as the people in the villages who supply us with such items as mango wood and bamboo products. We ensure they are well paid and looked after in every way. I personally have been dealing with some of our suppliers for more than five years.
