Hand carved soap flowers are one of the most beautiful forms of handicraft Thailand has to offer.

They are so delicate and life like and are often mistaken for real flowers. There are an infinite number of colors, styles and designs because each soap flower carver adds his or her own touch to their creations. Soap flowers are carved from a certain type of soap, specially chosen because it is ideal for the carving of such delicate objects. After the carving process is completed the flowers are hand painted by spaying with a blend of food coloring and a thinning agent. Finally the painted flowers are glued into mango wood lacquerware bowls with hand painted lids. They also come in coconut wood, glass and plastic containers. Soap flower carving is an important source of income in northern Thailand and by promoting this wonderful craft we feel we are contributing to the Thai economy.
